Melbourne Suburb Boundaries

Postby catcat » Sat Mar 06, 2010 10:42 pm

Has anyone got a great resource for suburb boundaries? I've had a bit of a look around and have found this one - http://www.melbourne.vic.gov.au/AboutMe ... bmaps.aspx - but I feel sure there should be something more...and something for townships and outer suburbs.

The wikipedia article - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Melbourne_suburbs - isn't really specific enough...

Any ideas?

Hey there,

Found this: http://www.aus-emaps.com/postcode_finder.php

Once you do a postcode search, tick "suburb boundaries" from the location balloon - gives you the suburb borders overlaying google maps of the area.

Hi guys,

I realise that this thread is a bit old, but: are the suburb boundaries as per the link above to be taken as official? I only ask, because around Footscray, there are nominal suburbs (e.g. Kingsville) that are covered under a larger (e.g. West Footscray) post code. Kingsville does not have its own post code. Does that mean that Kingsville should not be listed as a suburb in Waze?

Scratch my last post.

Although the exact boundaries appear to be up to each local council, DSE has all the current boundaries collated in one location: http://www.dse.vic.gov.au/property-titl ... ndary-maps.

Sound good to all Victorian AM's?
