Although isn't this 'pie in the sky'? For goodness sake, some of the core functions of Waze are still not reliable and there are so many issues here and there with some of the current implementation of features, routing, traffic, parking lots, etc.

Really? End-user selectable profiles for traffic rerouting?

THE MOST IMPORTANT bug to fix is ETA's. It's pointless to talk about rerouting bugs unless you address the ETA bug. Fix the underestimates of drive times in heavy traffic and lots of the rerouting issues will be fixed as well I imagine. I recommended this app to thousands of Facebook friends and I'm afraid I'll have to tell them all to forget about it until this bug is fixed.

Exactly! The ETA's during heavy traffic are not reliable. Seems like an easy bug to focus on. Give me the formula you're using to calculate ETA's and I'll fix it myself. Geeze!

I disagree. The ETA is based on having accurate traffic information. If the ETA is accurate, but Waze isn't taking into account traffic jams for re-routing, then it isn't taking them into account for ETA either. It's all linked. Fixing the routing and traffic avoidance routing bugs should come first. It's the core of Waze's touted functionality.

Correct, but the automatic rerouting works at that point. So if you wait the 5 minutes you can then trust the route it picks.

Nope, can't trust routes picked if traffic is really heavy on that route because it throws out data from vehicles moving 4mph or less, so I'm told.

Alan, best routes are picked based on shortest ETA so obviously accurate ETA's are the bug to focus on

I don't disagree that accurate ETA is based on route. However, the shortest route is not necessarily the fastest route. That's where the accurate traffic info and route selection based on FASTEST is most important. Shortest is not fastest.

Shortest ETA (shortest time) and fastest are the same thing.

Ummm, accurate ETA is based on Waze's formula for traffic, not route. Best route is based on best ETAs. Fixing the ETA bug in heavy traffic is essential. No other bug is of greater importance because so many functions, INCLUDING RE-ROUTING, depend on accurate ETAs.

Is there someone at Waze that can tell us if this ETA bug is even being addressed and maybe a time frame for it's fixing?
