Feature request: Show "Driving on <road name>"

Hi,

I have a feature request.

I have seen on Garmin, it is showing "Driving on <road name>" where it is very helpful in case you got lost, or looking for something in that area.

For example, I drive to a new area to look for house to rent, found the house, but don't know which road I am to write down the address.

It should also be a good feature where you can know if the road is already properly named in the map editor.

If the details are entered then the road name will be shown. If not, read the wiki and get editing

I think the desired feature is to show the road name you're driving on on a banner across the top of the screen. Garmin does this when you're not in navigation mode.

It would go in the same place that Waze shows the next turn at the top of the screen while in navigation mode.

This would be especially helpful for editors who want to check the accuracy of the road naming at a glance.

jasonh300, I think it is also showing in navigation mode. Just seen it 2 days ago on my brother's Garmin.

xteejx, this is not name on the map when navigating. It will show when the details is there, but most of the time, I just want to know on what road I am now, just by looking at the waze interface.

Ok I got it. This could be a simple option setting. Show current road or show next road. TTS would continue as normal. Good idea now I understand it

+100 to this. I was thinking about this the other day. Google navigation offers this as well. To make it really shine, I think that it would be nice to include the alternate name as well. I am not sure what separation would be best on the screen. For example, Main St / State Hwy 906. In looking at some areas though, this can pose a problem as there are alternate roads listed with the same exact primary street name. I wonder how easy it would be for Waze to run a script at map tile update that deleted multiple of the same name at a road segment? For example Primary: 3rd St, Alternate: 3rd St, Alternate: 3rd St (3rd St / 3rd St/ 3rd St is not good looking)

Actually if Waze were to add this you should be able to see the current road that you are on AND the next turn - not only one.

Likely it should be an option to turn on the additional functionality to show the current road since it will likely take up some of the screen. Although maybe Waze can overlay the text over the map and not take away any map viewing area?
