Roads visible but route keeps skipping

This weekend I drove from Boston to Ithaca and then back. The way out was perfect but on the way back Waze navigation seemed to lose it's mind. It would show a highway along with segments of navigation separated by just road. So I'd drive a mile, then have a mile of "proceed to the route", then a mile of navigation and so on. All of this happening while I was on a major highway.

I tried rebooting my Droid, I tried refreshing my tiles, I tried stopping navigation and restarting, all to no effect. At some point close to Boston the problem went away.

Suggestions?

This tends to occur:

* When Waze's infrastructure is having issues.
* When your client application has not yet downloaded all of the map to your device. Could be do to poor reception.
* During or after Waze has run a map tile update (this ran over the weekend). Basically same issue as the previous one, your application does not have all of the map tile data.

This should recover on it's own. If you have good signal, you can also manually initial your application to update the tiles by using the refresh map data option in the settings.

I actually got to a spot that had good reception, refreshed my tiles...which succeeded and yet I still had the problem.

It was also very strange that it showed the roads completely (so I'm guessing it had the required data) and just had problems with the navigation.

So it could be the first issue in my prior post or some type of other malfunction that is difficult to nail down. If you continue to have issues I would suggest contacting Waze Support.

In the past, when I encountered that problem (client version 2.x), I found that editing something on the map nearby would clear it up at the next map update. Apparently, the segment ID numbers get out of sync between the routing database and the map tile database, and the easiest way to solve it is to force the tiles to regenerate by editing something in the same area.

So if you can make an Update Request each time you're in the vicinity of these broken routes, the make some changes (hopefully improvements!) in the general area, most likely the segmented route will clear itself up at the next map update.
