Routing skipped this morning!

Postby DriverCM » Thu Aug 23, 2012 1:21 pm

This was an odd routing morning for me. Driving down I-95 in Richmond, the route disappeared ahead of me, and it told me to proceed to highlighted route, which was my next exit... three miles away.

It happened at least two more times on my drive, on I-195 and Powhite Parkway. It might have happened with the last leg too.

Is this a temporary issue corresponding with the tile switch?

I had a similar experience. It seems to have cleared up at the moment. In an attempt to test other routes (I thought a major map mistake had been committed) I had chosen a new start point so that I could test some routes. After that, when I actually drove, I experienced the strange behavior that you saw. Somehow, I'm not sure really, I must have cleared the start point because now it seems to route from my current location. (Choosing my current location as the start point?) I haven't driven since then so I don't know if it has really cleared up.

Weirdly, a lot of road names are missing in the navigation list and they are not announced. These had been announced prior to the last update.

Somehow my navigation settings had been scorched. The option to announce names had been turned off -- but I did not do it. I put the setting back to the way I had it, and now it announces more names but many are still missing. My audio settings have also been scorched -- the speaker was turned off. I have restored this as well.

Hopefully this is all user error on my part and not related to the map update. I may uninstall and reinstall the app to see if that clears up any remaining problems.

Seem highly likely to me. I had similar problems on my morning commute today.

Looks like the issue is continuing. I just navigated to lunch, and the route skipped a good bit through town, including places I drive through this morning.

Looks like most everyone is having similar problems, gauging by all the posts about it.

The only consolation for me is that I am relieved that it wasn't some major map screw-up that I perpetrated in my area. The areas where this happens seem to be areas that I edited since the last update.

Same thing has been happening all day to me. Just keeps saying "proceed to highlighted route" and in most cases, there is no highlighted route. In some cases, I catch up to the highlighted route and it still doesn't engage... but keeps saying the same thing... I even deleted the app and re-downloaded it... no help....Very frustrating and I depend on good navigation. Hope this gets fixed soon or I'll have to switch apps....

I can confirm that I also ran into this issue today. Very bizarre...

I am still experiencing this issue. Looks like it is going to take a while to fix. Smooth move Waze.

Guys, can you please specify from where and to you're navigating and provide a screen shot which shows the gap?

We're trying to reproduce the issue to figure out what's wrong. We did make a fix right now but we're not sure what was the root cause, so please try navigating again and report if you still see the issue.

Thanks,

Ehud
