Google Maps for iOS use local notifications to display next turn while the application is not frontmost. It would be great if was did the same thing (also displaying traffic reports, and other events). Is it a planned feature?

I liked those notifications as well. It would be nice to have those while Waze is operating in the background.

I get turn-by-turn voice instructions when Waze is in the background. Do you mean on-screen popups?

The text-based background notification (which could be customized to appear as either banner or alert based versions in the system). The verbal ones are still present. Google Maps (Navigation) offers up both simultaneously when that app runs in the background.

Personally, I'd not want that. If I've got verbal, I don't need a written notification.

For some it might be nice to have the option just in case you space out when the TTS is read and Waze is in the background.
