FR: Stop notifications that aren't on my route

Postby jtnt » Tue Jan 10, 2012 1:57 pm

I've checked the settings, and can't find anything that will do what I want it to do, so I'm submitting this feature request. If I'm missing something please let me know.

The notifications of reports while I'm stopped are extremely annoying and distracting, especially when they don't pertain to roads or events anywhere near me. Users should be able toL

a) Turn reports off entirely
b) Get only reports that are on the current route

Likewise, when viewing the map zoomed out a bit, all the little icons of reports make the actual map and route impossible to see. These should be able to be turned off.

Thanks.

Yep, been reported before. Quite annoying and mostly useless. I agree, add two new options to the settings menu. "Show events only along route" and "Disable event popups entirely".
You will be assimilated...bunghole!

Ah, sorry for the repost. Although, everyone who agrees with this should post here to let them know how many people want this! :)

Waze wants us to use UserVoice to suggest changes to the application or map editor and to solicit votes there. So you will want to find this request or submit this request at UserVoice and vote for it there.

Ha. Two support "communities?" Man, why do companies make it so hard on their users? Ok... Well, I found what it is I think the closest one at Uservoice.

UserVoice makes it easier for Waze to see how popular a suggestion is in addition to providing easy updates of status (although it seems that Waze is not using this function regularly). Very easy to get lost in the forums.

I agree that something needs to be changed with the notifications. I like the idea of being able to tell whats going on around your general area. The problem I have is that when the notification pops up you cant tell where it is in comparison to where you are. The notification bubble takes up most of the screen and you've got to know exactly where the road is that it is talking about.

If the notification box went away and instead the map would just zoom out to show what is being notified in relation to where you are on the map I think it would be much more useful especially if you are traveling in an area that you don't know.

Personally when i've used waze on my trips and i stop at a stoplight and get a notification its more confusing than anything when not knowing the area. I end up trying to figure out if what i'm being notified about is even in my path or in the general direction that I am headed but by the time I can tell where it is the next notification has popped up and i'm looking at a completely different area with no relation to where I actually am.

Anyway thats just my 2 cents.

I'm quoting this because it deserves votes. Also, this is what they told me on facebook. "On the next version we will allow limiting the reports to only those on your route. As for the traffic detection, we are constantly working on improving the system and a big update is planned in a month or two, so hopefully that will improve your experience. Ehud."

I agree this could be done very elegantly. With a zoomed out map, you could see all of the important reports at once, without it automatically panning all over the place, and you see see where they are in relationship to you.

This is definitely a huge issue.

When I'm driving, other than alerts for traffic, redlight/speed cameras, or similar are not important. What's happening 10 miles away is not important either.

I don't want to see popups/notifications unless they're relevant.
