Newbie questions

Postby LesleyLaw » Mon May 28, 2012 8:54 pm

Hi all, I'm a fairly new user so not sure if these facilities are available or not. If they are there no doubt this community can advise how to access, if not, I can put in a feature request.

1) Overview of route. Particularly if there is more than one obvious route, yes it offers whether I want to go via specific roads but I'd like to see the entire route before chosing. I'd also like to see a route overview when I am maybe half way there

2) Road closures. The icon to report problems does not seem to have this option. Clearly this needs an option to indicate how long the road closure will be. I came across one about 2 weeks ago, tried to report a problem, Waze has now emailed me to update the map myself. Bravo, but I don't know if the road is still closed. It was a particularly aggravating one as Waze had sent me a very peculiar route down a road I'd always avoided becuase it's VERY steep, and cobbled... but the advantage of this was lost due to a minor road closure. Wanted to save other Wazers the same aggro.

I think I had another one but I can't remember it so will stick to those 2 for now.

Regards

Lesley

Report the road closure as either a "Hazard" or "Accident" if applicable, make sure you add a description that says "ROAD CLOSED". Please note, this will not effect routing, but will warn other drivers, Waze should pick up on the detour if enough drivers go off route in the same manner.

What you did is reported a Map Error, which gets posted to the Update Map, for other users to look at and make changes (if necessary) to the map. These updates aren't instantaneous, the current update cycle is supposed to be weekly, but it's been as long as a month or two between updates in the past (as well as we missed this week's update for server issues). That being said, if the road is closed (or one way) for long term construction (several weeks or more), DO report a Map Error and the map can be updated for this. Be sure to add descriptions to these reports, most of the ones without any info just get marked "Not Identified" unless the error is quite obvious.

You got the email because some reviewed your Update Request, and 1) Couldn't figure out what you were reporting 2) Knew of the short term closure and determined it didn't meet the requirements to update the map or 3) Doesn't know the road has a long term closure on it.

Hi.
For this, you can hit the button in the middle after you hit the destination point (while the "go" button is down-counting)

For the halfway view, it's not possible without resetting the trip. Just hit the top middle button on the menu page.
