Or perhaps you have "download traffic data" turned off in Advanced/Data settings?

Is the traffic always around 23mph at that time of day? Waze doesn't know the speed limits of the roads, it knows the average speed of the roads (broken down into 10-15 minute segments)...

I don't see color highlights on course. For example, on way to work speed was 23 mph on 65 mph interstate with multiple Wazer's in the lead. On rare occasions, I will see red lines, but unreliable. Google Maps on iPhone was better for a quick-look of where traffic is slow.
