Request auto-dim option

To save battery I'd like to be able to optionally set my iPhone screen to dim (or even turn off) when there are no road alerts. When a road alert is approaching I'd like the screen to come to full brightness. For a regular commute, I don't need to see the same route every day. Like the voice, a suddenly bright screen would get my attention. As it is, I turn off my screen to save battery (when I can't plug in) and turning it on manually is not safe.

I also would like this feature. My car charger cannot keep up on a four hour drive. Google maps will dim when there is not much happening and then when you approach something brightens up on my android.
