Google's terms of use for their map data does not align with Waze's use of their data.

And have outdated roads, streetnames and stuff, as well as a very hard editor to use, and a peer-review system that encourages 1000s of useless edits to add parking lot isles. That's of course ignoring any of the multitude of licensing issues and it not being free (gratis).

Sorry if I pointed out to you that everyone's maps suck, yes even TomTom's and Garmin's. It just turns out to be Waze's are by far the easiest to fix, or even create whole new areas, and have the quickest turn around for fix->live. Google Maps is rife with examples of local editors doing correct edits to roads/intersections, having to wait for review, review passing, then a post-review "maintenance" from someone half way around the world reverting the changes.

Waze & Google maps

Both approaches have strong and weak points. Yes its relatively quick to fix a map in waze, but it is very easy to damage it. The tools available for community are underdeveloped. I personally think that maps are the weakest part of waze at the moment.

A much as I like Waze I have to agree, I've spent so many hours making map in my area at the beginning and now someone is just screwing everything up - blocking turns, deleting roads, I even start thinking they do that in purpose. Recently Waze couldn't route mute to my home just because scrambled cross roads. Plus when I edit it takes forever (!) to update. Don't take me wrong here, I still use Waze as regular sat-nav but as the community growers the problem gets more seriously.

Why doesn't Waze link google maps to their program? It would be much easier, and all streets, cities, etc should then have all roads and streetnames and stuff?
