Well checking some changes and, even though the status page says tiles are updated, many changes, from as early as Aug 13, do not appear (there have been 2 NA tile updates since Aug 13th) - what's up with that?

NA livemap doesn't update properly. If you're referring to the tiles in the app have you either planned a route through the area or purged the map cache?

1) Are you looking at the Live Map on the website or in the client? The Live Map hasn't been updating visually (but will route properly over new roads as long as you start and end on roads that do appear) for a while do the infrastructure updates. If you're looking on the client app on you phone, try refreshing the tiles (Menu -> Settings -> Advanced -> Data Transfer -> Refresh map of my area).

2) Today's update only contains edits made before Aug 27th, the Aug 8 update brought us to edits made before July 24th...

I was looking in the client after I had refreshed the tiles.

The edits I was specifically looking for were made on Aug 13, well before the 27th. The two updates I was referring to were the Aug 23rd (edits up to Aug 13) and Today (up to Aug 27).

I figure I'll give it a little time and check again, maybe it takes a bit to propagate fully?

Oh, and when will the Live map be updated? (rhetorical question) WTF are they thinking? (see previous parenthetical remark)

I guess I missed an update cycle there... Post a permalink so someone else can look at the edits in WME just to make sure there isn't any issues there..

It hasn't been updated since they started the infrastructure upgrades, we expect (hope) it to be back to normal once they are done, but there are higher priorities during the upgrades (Client, Map Tiles, WME, URs, etc)

Purge the map cache? is that something you do in the client? I did refresh tiles in the app, but don't see anything about purging map data. I'm on iOS.

I had not tried planning a route, yet. But, I'll be heading out soon and will see if that helps. Thanks.

I'm heading out for a bit, but if the edits are still MIA then I will do so. These are pretty simple edits (spelling corrections and such in my tiny little neighborhood of 3 streets), so not much to screw up there. I'll see if route planning through the area helps, too as dmcconachie suggested.

I just refreshed tiles and checked an area of construction around me, and the latest construction changes (new roads/ramps open - yay!!!) are visible in the client.

These changes I've made for some new construction got me thinking...

We have a 12 mile segment of 4-lane divided highway interrupted by traffic lights every 1/2 to 2 miles. This road is a major thoroughfare, and a major traffic nightmare during rush hour. The DOT is updating it to interstate standards with separated grade interchanges. No more side streets & driveways intersecting the road, no more traffic lights, no more slowing down in the fast lane to turn left. It's going to take 5 years to complete the project, and it's going to be miserable for those who have to commute through it during that time period. However, once it's done, traffic will flow like a dream (in theory, these are civil engineers we're talking about...)

How about we give Waze a bit of room to do their road construction, too. It may be a bit more uncomfortable while they're making upgrades, but in the end, it should be worth it.

Next update on NA tiles?

Postby kentsmith9 » Sun Sep 02, 2012 2:47 pm

My edits from before the cutoff time stated did not appear on my client until I used the refresh procedure listed above.
