Just save a bookmark in your browser to http://world.waze.com/editor and it will, as the wiki documentation states, and which you should be reading, start in the last location you edited. There are bookmarklets documented in the wiki you can use to link back and forth between Live Map and WME.

I do not experience this behavior at all on two operating systems and three browsers. However, I also rarely use LiveMap because it's so out of date, there's no current reason for anyone to look at it.

I'd clear your cache and cookies and ensure that Waze is being allowed to set cookies as I am fairly certain it uses a cookie to save the last map location. Every browser window I open to the editor comes up in the last place that browser on that computer was showing.

You could also use the following bookmark for the editor, which will log you in and redirect to the editor: https://www.waze.com/signin/?page=http: ... com/editor

Start location on map editor - Wrong

Postby alistair13 » Sat Sep 01, 2012 7:03 pm

Hi all

When I go to the map editor, I start i what looks like the Netherlands from the language and street names, but I have never been there. I live in South Africa and want to know how to set the map to start in South Africa.

I found that somewhere in the upgrades the behavior of the "Update Map" link on the Live Map page has changed. It used to just load the editor wherever you left off editing last, now it uses the location of the live map to load that location. The live map, for some strange reason, doesn't stay where I put it between visits.

Also, Lebanon, Kansas is the geographic center of the contiguous United States, so that may be why the map loads there by default (like after you clear cookies). Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geographic_center_of_the_contiguous_United_States

What I used to do (in Chome) was open up waze.com -> My Dashboard -> Log In -> Live Map -> Update Map.

Now I try to navigate directly to waze.com/editor it thinks I'm logged in, but I'm not. If I go to the dashboard, log in & then TYPE in waze.com/editor puts me in the area I last viewed, but if I try to use the links, it doesn't.

Start location on map editor - Wrong

Postby maantje76 » Sat Sep 01, 2012 7:11 pm

Wme caches the last location you visit. Or you open the editor by a (perma) link to the netherlands...

You can't give a default location. But you can make a permalink to the location you want, and open that link next time you open WME...

Since the last update to the editor mine has been coming up somewhere in Kansas every time, no matter where I was editing last. On the bright side if I move the live map before going into the editor it will use something close to that location. It is much easier to scroll the live map long distances than the editor.
