Areas that I was able to edit gone?

Post by Tucuson
It looks like starting the last maps update, many of the areas I was able to edit are gone now? Is this correct? Just areas around my work and home are available and before there were the areas that I have been traveling to. :(

Mind you, if I'm not an area manager, I won't feel obliged to explain to people who complain that roads are missing in their area that it's a user generated map system and that they should maybe do it themselves.
Several months ago Waze went through and cleared out inactive Area Managers, there were a few issues here and there, mainly due to people having rights (intentionally or unintentionally) on both servers (NA & ROTW). If you have been inactive for a while, you have to re-apply (or what ever the process is these days - depending on country, etc).

Editable areas due to drives expire after ~3 months. How long since you drove there?

I would also comment that there have been some considerable "glitches" in the 3-month rule recently.

In the last 2 weeks of August, I was on holiday in Wales and picked up some editable areas due to my drives. In October (after 6-8 weeks), due to some sort of server problem with Waze, I lost nearly all of those editable areas early, except for 3 chunks that somehow got left behind. Those areas lasted all the way until December 31st - 4 months.

But, as the people above have suggested, it is most likely that your missing areas have expired - and this may well happen during a map update.

I was wondering that. I lost most of my editable areas, but somehow also have been removed from being an area manager where I once was.

I'm actually ok with not being an area manager now. I pretty much completed every street within a good radius of where I live in any case, and like I said above, I won't feel obliged to address those "missing road" complaints from people who don't get that they are also able to get in there and add them and not just be spoon fed.

you would get Editable area along places you traveled (normal user gets 1 mile around his/her drives) but it only lasts 3 months (plus/minus). so if you haven't been there again you are not able to edit anymore. to see places you are able to edit turn on Editable Area layer in WME.
you may request Area Manager permissions for an area and this area is editable all times even without visiting the area... just search forum and wiki for more details.
