Bug in the application for that specific Android device / OS version / screen resolution. Waze will need to reproduce it and fix.

I confirm - this bug makes current version of Waze virtually useless on my device (GT-S5360). In case it helps to solve this, I attach a screenshot from my device.

I have same problem with my Samsung Galaxy Y..No idea how to fix it..

The latest beta has fixes for some (not all) devices that experienced this problem. If you have not already installed it, please do. Download link can be found in the announcements- and client forums.
Normally a HTC Desire S - Stock ROM (Android 2.3.5), but temporarily back to my G1 (HTC Heart) - Froyo by Laszlo ROM - Waze 3.6

Btw, using Google Maps or Sygic i can see maps an address very good so i dont understand why Waze can not fix this.

Yes, I also updated to the latest Beta with no effect on my Samsung Ace. Still wrong characters in street names. Hope Waze would do something with it!

Still no reply?? I have the exactly same trouble with my Samsung Galaxy Y.
I hope this can be solved soon... I really want to be abble to use my Waze completely!!
