It is nice to see approaching streets for both familiar and unfamiliar streets. But the size of the font is too small, maybe for some. If you're just doing quick glance to waze and focusing on the road, it takes longer to focus on smaller text to read. Please give us the option change the font size. Another option would be to allow us to turn on or off the approaching street message. A third option would be to automatically increase the font size of the street as an inverse to the distance from the car to the street.

The whole approaching messages thing is just temporary until we get basic routing support up and running. We are currently doing automatic modifications of the map but we can always use manual help!
Anyway, our intention is that you use Waze commuting from one place to the other and in these cases you should use the Route mode. In this mode no approaching messages should appear, you should see your current route and get different notifications about events along your current route (both from other wazers and automatic traffic information).
Your point does stand though and we'll consider increasing the text or at least add an option to disable the approach notifications.
Thanks.

The names of some streets can not be seen as you drive because they are "further up" on the street. that is: not near the corner, where you can see them. You have to scroll over to find them.

@benwade - I assume you mean the street names on the sliding maps (and not the street names in the 'next maneuver' of the turn-by-turn display at the bottom)
Did you notice the message that comes up when you approach each street? (the one that's mentioned in the first entry of this post?)
That should solve your problem case you just want a 'follow me' mode, and keep the screen from displaying too much text. As eshabtai said - the goal is for you to navigate with a pre-defined destination, where the relevant street names (your next maneuver) will appear in a big font at the bottom of the screen. With that said - I'll forward your comment on to the team.

I think the best way to keep the interface consistent while offering relevant information would be to include the "Approaching..." dialogue in large font in the same place that the Navigation data is included when the routing feature is being used.
I have had two GPS devices (a Garmin and a TomTom) and, even though I didn't plan routes with them very often, I liked to have them display the map. One of the nice features of the Garmin was the display of the next road (e.g. "Prytania St ahead") so that I didn't have to take my eyes off the road for too long to find and read small street signs. I think this feature should be kept, at least as an option, and having it in the navigation-text's place would be optimal.

I agree with Sketch. I think the pop-up bubble that displays which road you are approaching gets in the way of the map. Displaying it in the same place as the navigation data would avoid cluttering up the map.
