Is there a way to have north up as the default for the map? (android)

Tap the compass icon to toggle it.

And it is a one time only operation. I have to select it every time I come back to the map. Clicking the icon does not make it the default map view.

No known way to make it default in the interface. Maybe someone else has found the setting to make it default in one of the configuration files?

The most annoying thing is that even if you set NORTH = up, if you so much as touch the screen or just drive around a bit, the map will spin around on its own so that direction of travel is up. Sorry to say that I have begun using another iPad app instead of putting up with this flaw.

I would expect more people would be complaining about this issue. I thought this is a pretty basic feature which most people have come to expect.
Any responses from some expert users or developers out there on this would be appreciated! Thanks!

Most people don't use north Up when navigating even when the option is available.
Personally, If I need to use the map as a map, I can put it into north up mode, but when I'm navigating, I want to see where I'm going.

I also do not use it unless I am panning around the map. Navigating in north up is too disorienting to me and I have to look to long at the screen to get my bearings.

This should still be on the list for the meeting, as some people prefer it that way. The lack of a working "north up" orientation seems to be related to the lack of the zoom settings staying put.
