Lowestoft - No permissions as country manager

Postby Dave2084 » Mon Jan 09, 2012 11:32 pm

Hi All,

The last few days I've been upgrading the A47 from Peterborough though Norwich to Gt Yarmouth to Major highway as it's a Trunk road.

I then carried on to doing the A12 to Lowestoft, so after many miles of edits and maybe 100 roundabouts I get to within a mile or two of the end of the trunk road in Lowestoft's Town centre and despite being a country manager I have no permissions :(

Can some of the other country managers have a look to see if they have the same problem?

You'll see where I ran out of permission as the Major Highway abruptly ends!

None of us will be able to. It's an inaccuracy in the border that waze uses. Try Turnberry on the west coast of Scotland or the coast of Bournemouth! Only fix currently is to add to your AM area!

Hmmm, not really keen to take it on as AM as I don't think anyone has ever done an edit there!

Sounds like it needs you Dave! ;-) How can you possibly leave that small section untouched? :-P

I think that it is only the editing area in Papyrus that is wrong. You can edit roads with key shortcuts, and save them with any permission errors.

There are a couple tricks you can do to get around the problem:
1. select a road, and change the directionality with the 'r' shortcut. After saving, you'll be able to edit the road's properties (and restore the directionality).
2. edit the roads in old Cartouche. Any road you touch will become editable in Papyrus, though junctions will still need to be dealt with in Cartouche.

Ideally though we need to get Waze to fix the UK boundaries.

Oddly, it's not simply a longitude thing, as I can edit down by Penzance no problem.

I think the editing boundary is defined by the coastline as it appears in the Livemap. For example, in Bournemouth I can edit Exeter Rd north of the roundabout, but not Bath Rd that goes south-east. Looking at Lowerstoft, I could see a correlation between where I could edit, and the coastline.

[Edit: Nope, I was wrong]

Well the Trunk road (Major Highway) of the A12 to where is stops being a trunk road is now done in Lowestoft.

I ended up doing it in Cartouche, I'd forgotten how slow it is ...

I also not that the local AM (xiano) seems to have had an accident (or two) with the "select entire Street" button in Papyrus as LOTS of roads including one ways streets have been changed to two way. Even the Y shaped approaches to roundabouts are two way. He doesn't seem to have named anything as Lowestoft or any street names though. :(

I suspect navigation would be impossible!

What's the last edit date you can see for xiano? Haven't seen him around for a while!

All the Lowestoft edits look like 27 Nov 2011

Grimsby/Cleethorpes have the same problem, but only for connectivity, I can edit the roads, but not turn restrictions.
