Most of my area is rural so 80% of the road are county roads that are currently named as "Co Rd 94". Since I don't use TTS in Waze most of the time (can't hear it in my vehicle), I didn't realize that it was pronouncing this as "co road ninety-four". Should all of these roads be change to the CR format (i.e. CR-94) to make TTS work correctly and conform to the new agreement? Or is there a pending change to TTS to make it work for "Co Rd". I don't want to start changing a bunch of roads that I'll have to change back later.

CR-## currently works with TTS and says County Road ##. However the community needs to come up with a shorthand for County Route, the obvious (CR) of course conflicts with County Road (CR).

SH-## currently (last time I turned onto one, which was last weekend) does not currently say State Highway, but says Ess Aitch. I am unsure of US-###. In any case Waze has agreed to make TTS say what we want with whatever shorthand the community comes up with.

That level of detail/personalization really isn't necessary IMO. Is someone expecting to hear "County Route 99" going to be confused if the instructions tell her to take "County Road 99"?

I would not recommend changing anything as nothing is written stone yet.

We actually have another thread running here to create a list to test out what the TTS knows and what else we would like it to know or forget.

And yes CO is being discussed.

Sorry I can't point you to it at the moment as I'm mobile. Search on TTS.

Waze Palo Alto Meetup topics ranking

I'll leave it as is for now. I've seen the suggestions, just wasn't sure if a direction was firmed up.

If it ever does change for sure, it will give me another reason to go back through my area in an editing spree. :)

Do we wish that changed to say "you ess highway" to match the eventual SH saying "State Highway"?

Folks 'round these here parts generally just call US routes "you ess number", so what we currently have in the TTS matches local speech (at least in my area).

'round here we just say the numbers as there are no number conflicts on all numbered highway/freeways.

Around here we usually say just, "you ess xxx".

Again, whether with or without "highway", users are unlikely to be confused by whatever is chosen. Personally I like whatever gives TTS Lady less to say.
