Hi,
Wouldn't it be relatively simple to add an iPod-controller to the options menu in Waze for the iPhone?
That way you wouldn't have to exit the waze app to browse your music, or skip to the next song. Maybe even some skip track buttons on the navigation screen, if it's possible to find a spot where they aren't in the way too much?
Just a thought..

It's been suggested before, and might have a uservoice entry. Truthfully, with the addition of multi tasking and the task bar, I don't see them adding this feature. Especially since this might (depending on the framework they are using) be a system dependent feature. I think they are trying to limit the items that require special programming depending on the device.

They actually REMOVED controls like this from Waze once multitasking support was introduced into iOS. I think that indicates the thoughts of Waze on this topic.

Even when they were included, they did not provide full functionality; you effectively created an on-the-go playlist within the app that you couldn't save or edit. Apple does not allow you full in-app control, and that's fine, because as has been said, multitasking accounts for it.

I personally think it would add too much clutter, it keeps it much simpler. Trapster did that and it was just too busy with too much crap to look for. The magic of the multitask menu is you double click the home, move to the right and you have controls right there without leaving the app.. it would be almost as much work if it was integrated i bet..

I vote for Multi Tasking... I love Waze but can't use it if I am listening to my iPhone music. Wish I could do both.

Seriously, I feel so stupid for not realizing this. Thanks for pointing it out.
