Purpose of this forum

Since the Gulf Coast has been divided into two separate regions, the info in this thread may or may not be relevant.


This forum is here so that Wazers along the Gulf Coast can post problems, and communicate with Area Managers regarding their problems.

It also can be used for anything else specific to this area.

The first four are Waze employees and were added automatically. I chose the rest when I created the forum.

I didn't mean to leave you out, but when I sent the request to create the forum (probably 2 weeks ago), I wasn't aware you were in Florida, since you've only been posting heavily for the past few weeks. I picked who I thought were the other three most active AMs. I'll request you be added in (although it might take a couple of weeks for that to actually happen).

Now I'm seeing that problem...you see, I requested that I be in there twice since I cover two states...however, you're supposed to be in there 4 times, since you cover all 4 states.

Lol, thanks, and I've been an active Waze user for around a year (probably more), and I've been editing maps for over 50k map edits, but I only post when necessary lol.

Also, since we have this now, can we merge the Florida forum into this one?

For now, I'd suggest leaving the state forums independant. It may not be immediately obvious that they should post Florida issues here at first..

well, I figure they could split the country up into certain sections, Southwest, South East, etc.. etc... and there will be multiple states per section.

That'd be a great idea, honestly. The states that are under-represented by AM's could still get decent answers from AM's that are nearby. However, I think we'd have to "sell" the idea to Waze/krankyd, and possibly the rest of the community.

I do like the idea, though.

It'd also be cool if we could come up with "regional best practices" like freeway/major/minor/primary conventions. It looks like the country as a whole is going to have a hard time picking something that satisfies everyone.. so maybe keeping it sane in certain regions make the most sense. Since waze is a 'daily commute' app, it doesn't matter at this point if the AM's in washington, california, nevada etc use a different convention than we do. This may change over time of course (Like *any* best practices should) but by then, maybe Waze themselves will come up with some guidelines they'd want us to adhere to, IF they ever turn waze into more of a general purpose navigation app/tool to counter garmin/tomtom/magellan.

Just a quick hello to everyone. I'm a new Area Manager, helping out in Metro New Orleans, south LA (Houma, Port Fourchon, Grand Isle), Baton Rouge, and a small chunk of central LA near Marksville. Let me know if I can help or learn anything from all of the "lifers" here. LOL
