Language in Area Manager Wiki

Postby argus-cronos » Sun Jan 29, 2012 11:34 pm

I'm a bit surprised that the Area Manager Wiki has changed the language to Lithuanian. So i hope not all of them changes in the near Future.

I've changed it back. Vitamins55 is the person who changed it first.

Editing a Wiki ?

Postby argus-cronos » Sat Feb 11, 2012 5:57 pm

It seems that the documentation about how to edit Wikipages is not so clear as i thought.
The next side http://www.waze.com/wiki/index.php/How_ ... tes_routes changes to spanish.

Is it really so hard to open a new page?

I realized it and send it back to its original English version... sorry for that ;)

We are working in the Spanish wiki to have all it updated...

Normal procedure is to "duplicate the pages to Spanish and inform people that page is ready to translate...
Example here

In this particular case, someone start translating from a linked English page not yet duplicate to Spanish...

We keep monitoring the process to avoid mistakes, but if you see something estrange, pls let me know....

Many thanks

I've translated about 26 pages or so to German, and the more you add, the more errors can happen. I know that it can be confusing sometimes, but the best way is to create a redlink and than translate it to this new page.
How about this for country specific Wikis: i've added a redlink here and all editors know that it could be translated. After this is done i move the pagetitle to another list entry and remove the english title from the list. Mabe a comment behind the redlink could be helpful during the translation process. Just a thought.

Many thanks for the idea.
At the end the goal is the same, make sure we are not editing the originals... In my dreams I thought was as simple as to check the url and see if it was in Spanish or English... ;)
A few days ago I also sent back to its original the page http://www.waze.com/wiki/index.php/Pages_specific_to_a_country_and_language which had turned a guide to Norway...

:D

To be honest, I'm finding really interesting things. Learning a lot. But I'm also finding some things which are becoming obsoletes, mostly linked with cartouche, and others which are explained several times in several places, such as how to make a roundabout...

Could be a good idea to make a list of those paragraphs which may need a revision...
