I love the live road updates and harzard warnings from Waze but GPS routing, at least for me, has been very quirky. I use the iPhone version.
My afternoon commute is from Rockville Maryland to Hagerstown Maryland. I always have used Navagon which routes me I-270n to I-70w for a total of 61 miles (I have the traffic option installed).
Everyday Waze insist on a route of 123 miles going on the ICC (toll road) to Baltimore area and back west bound. When I hit the alternate routes the best I get is a 74 mile route I-270n to SR-27w to I-70w. State road 27w is not a good alt to I-270 all the way to I-70.
The odd thing is when I pass by SR-27 it ask me to u-turn at the next exit (Clarksburg). After I pass that exit it will then route me correctly up I-270 and actually show a 20 minutes improvement over the SR-27 suggestion, so if it was that much better why suggest the other in the first place?
The only thing I can think of there is construction on I-270 pass SR-109. Traffic seems to move OK through this area and it is not a major problem, maybe Waze has over weighted it to avoid?
Also why does it keep suggesting the 123 mile route, I been using it for a month now and I thought it was suppose to remember my preferred route.
Any help would be........helpful
