Or try turning the screen off?

Re: Android 3.0.1.0 - Phone going to Sleep

Postby Autourdupc » Fri Mar 02, 2012 7:17 am

Running 3.0.1.1
Seem that, after declaring a "police camera", that the "No sleep" function do not work.

I mean that after telling Waze that I saw a police Camera, I get the pop-up saying "Congratulation, you have helped .... and win 6 points". After a little while, my phone has gone to sleep (I was driving since 30 minutes and the phone was running). I had to wake up my phone to watch again Waze.

Running 3.0.1.1

Strange behaviors...
Why don't Waze follow exactly the road ?
Look at the red line. It should be curve and not straight !
(impossible to go straight - Road do not permit !)

It's not that much indeed.

Maybe you can check if it helps to put your screen brightness a bit lower?

I've used many different smartphones over the years, but never been able to use any GPS using application that keeps the screen on for more than 2 hours. 1 hour may be a bit short, but it doesn't get much longer.

I am in Abilene Tx, and am driving to San Diego, CA. When I put in "San Diego, CA" or any variant to the navigate, the "Waze" results pull up streets with the name San Diego as far as Tennessee or Arizona, or even tries to direct me to San Diego, TX. The Google results find nothing.

This is very frustrating. I have settled on asking for directions in parts, since it is actually quite straight-forward and a very familiar drive. Yet still, why does this seem to be an issue?

Hello.

Way back, I stopped using Waze for a number of reasons...
I got back to Navigator, from Google, which is close to perfection...

But many months have come and gone, and I decided to give Waze another try....
It's better than before, but further work is needed...

These things really annoy me:

- There's no real difference between roads that have traffic report from the ones that do no have them... Why is this annoying?, simple: if a see a non-coloured road, right now it may mean "no traffic jam", but also could be "no traffic info about this road"... I understand that right now only the jams are reported, but many times I got on the freeway and got stuck because no previous reports where avaiable, and everything looked good on Waze... You should consider color coding these situations... Maybe green where actual reports say that traffic flow is fluid?... And then leave the non-coloured code to the roads where no traffic data is available...

- When I'm stopped at a traffic light, many popups appears warning me about traffic reports from a 5km radius (I set it up that way)... Information displayed on this screen is not really accessible... I mean, there's a box that basically takes the entire screen, and in the back you 'can see' that the map relocates to the area where the jam is... Information about the location is pretty scarce too: "moderate traffic at some street near some neighborhood"... I think it would be better if the legend was smaller, and we could ACTUALLY SEE the MAP... We would then be able to see how many blocks are affected, and such things...

- I'd like WAZE to be more autonomous... For instance, if i'm on a highway where speed limit is 80 km/h, i'd like waze to automatically start warning if I'm doing 40-50 km/h, with no human intervention... Also, would really like that when i report something, most information would came from Waze history, and not from me... For instance, I'd love to just press "report - traffic jam", and then Waze would compute the level of warning depending on information I'm sure it has (like average speed, route, and such)...

I'm not a big fan of using the cell while driving...
So when I use a GPS, I expect it to be smart enough to limit my input as much as possible...
I still think Waze has a great potential... =)

Cheers.

We absolutely already does this. No interaction necessary. The jams that you see on your display that are color coded and show the speed of the traffic were automatically generated by Wazers driving there. Waze also takes this information into account when generating your ETA and the fastest route. In order for this data to be good, there have to be many Wazers in your area.

Waze would not quit when I use the switch off button regardless if I was in Nav mode or normal mode (ie have Waze running in the background). When I tab on the switch off button, the phone would vibrated then froze. I have to do a soft reset to bring the phone back. Logs sent, OS and ROM info in signature
