Shortly after starting Waze, where the ETA would show when navigating, a small popup will appear for a short time. It is only a NA thing, I think due to definition of "metro areas" from something I read recently.

Is this perhaps yet another cool iPhone toy that we underprivileged droiders don't get to play with? Or is it something open only to big-city areas?

I'm an Android user and the data shows up on my phone. It must be a metro area statistic.
At 5:30pm yesterday, I saw the highest number for the Philadelphia area...489 Wazers. I think I'm going to obsess over tbis number every day now.

So with that many users, how well does it work for rerouting, or is the map in DC still not mature enough?

Average here has been close to 50 for the past week or so...up from 35. Odd thing is that it doesn't increase much at rush hour. It's 49 right now at 2:00 pm on a Saturday afternoon.

I noticed something strange today...I was in Bristol, PA around 1pm and Waze showed 277 users around me. An hour later, I was in Trenton, NJ (about 8 miles north) and when I opened Waze there were 984 users. Was the 8 mile difference that dramatic? Did Waze suddenly consider me in the New York metro area? Trenton is less than 20 miles from Philadelphia, but I can't think of anything else.
