Yes, that someone is Waze Support or Waze Development vs. the Waze community. We are waiting on them.

Even if they confirm this, it may not be a simple fix.

I had another issue today with the reports/jams not showing on the route preview screen. It's difficult to determine if this is only an issue with the route preview screen or whether the jams are actually not being factored in to the ETA and routing.

This issue occurred at 7:55am - 7:56am PDT. (14:55 - 14:56 GMT)

In the first screen shot, you can clearly see that I am in the middle of a 18 MPH jam:

Then I set a route. The route preview screen is obviously disregarding the current jam:

Evidence that the route includes the jam:

Another issue with the route preview screen:

Per the route preview screen there are 3 reported events on my route

Immediately after setting the route I look at the Reports, on-route and nothing is displayed

Confirmation that I do not have any Reports filtered by distance

FWIW, these three reports did exist on the actual route. So it seems that there are additional issues with reports other than just the failure of them being displayed properly on the route preview screen.

This occurred at 4:35 PM PDT (23:35 GMT) on May 3, 2012.

Some positive news on very slow traffic jams. Waze reported that traffic was building and there is a 15 minute delay.

This was for a traffic jam that was showing as 2 MPH. So it appears that at least in some cases very slow traffic is now being accounted for in the ETA and the traffic reporting function.

Even though this worked in this specific example, I am not yet ready to declare that everything is working properly in regards to Waze traffic reporting and rerouting. I'll post more as I come across these events.

We are having the same problem on the World server, with 8-page thread in Czech & Slovak forum. A few months ago I've recorded a video demonstration of this bug: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-AFBAJ7rKc

Actually the problem occurs in about 90% of all routing requests. Sometimes (very rarely) it works correctly.

Another threads:
SUPPORT Route takes me *smack* into a traffic jam
Waze 3 - issue with graphic preview of events along route
support please respond Int. routing servers - possible bug

Threads in czech and slovak language:

I think they should pay more attention to fix this issue. I am still reading at http://status.waze.com about the points issues. Isn't the correct routing with traffic avoidance much more important?

As I know, user foxitrot sent some bad routing evidence to the alpha last december. Reply was something like "we've found the problem, it will be solved hopefully in the next month or two." HOPEFULLY!

Is there any progress in fixing this bug? Traffic is still ignored:

This route has a traffic jam with average speed 22 km/h:
http://files.guri.sk/ignore_traffic_201 ... 4_pic1.PNG

It takes 5 minutes (2.2 km) to reach the traffic jam:
http://files.guri.sk/ignore_traffic_201 ... 4_pic2.PNG

According to Waze ETA it takes 11 minutes (16 minutes - 5 minutes to reach the traffic) to pass the 7.6 km long route (9.8 - 2.2). With average traffic jam speed 22 km/h, it should be at least 20.7 minutes (9.7 minutes more).

Hi Ori,

Thank you very much for the check. We're crossing fingers to fix it ASAP. Google Maps is launching its navigation with traffic here in Slovakia very soon - it is already usable in the latest beta. Unfortunatelly, the ETA from Google Maps is much more realistic when there are traffic jams, and it is not caused by the lack of information in Waze :(

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you need more examples, or any other help.

Hi Ori,

Still the same problems today morning (2012-02-28 07:53 UTC, guri211, area permalink):

Full route: 19 minutes / 8.2 km
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10259654/2012-02-28-a.PNG

1st part (no traffic jam): 6 minutes / 2.1 km
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10259654/2012-02-28-b.PNG

2nd part (traffic jam with average speed 18 km/h): 13 minutes / 6.1 km
Note: The 2nd part is count as {Full route} - {1st part}

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10259654/2012-02-28-c.PNG
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10259654/2012-02-28-d.PNG

2nd part should be at least 20.3 minutes instead of 13
Full route should be at least 26.3 minutes instead of 19

I have to say that today morning, in 3 tries out of 30, routing server gives me a perfect route. Therefore I think there should be a problem with failover to routing server that has no access to realtime traffic data in our region (just my guess).
