So with that many users, how well does it work for rerouting, or is the map in DC still not mature enough?
Worked great up until last week, when it just started sending me straight into jams. The jams are all well documented on the map though. The problem with the map in DC is not that it has not been well edited. The problem is that there are many many time based restrictions in DC. Those time based restrictions can make waze almost useless depending on your commute.

Really any GPS can be made useless, by the restrictions in DC.
I left there on a Sunday a couple of years ago, and had to just find a highway and head west to get out of town before my Garmin stopped sending me to closed streets....

Up to 597 Wazers here in Philadelphia when I turned it on at 515 pm today. Definitely seeing an increase week to week.

I saw 1200 to 1500 in LA every time I fired up! And I studiously ;-) avoided driving during rush hour

I was in New York City on Tuesday and there were maybe 900 or so around 4pm...I would figure that number should be higher?

That may be true to a certain extent (especially Manhattan), but it is so densely populated the number should really be higher. I would think 8 million people within the 5 boroughs & 22 million in the metro area would yield more than 900 Wazers? Not sure, however, whether they have some kind of radius count or if it's a cumulative number for an entire metro area?
