Um could I be stuck in "Prefer Goodie Munching"?

Postby dwdockter » Fri Mar 16, 2012 4:13 pm

By happenstance I had Prefer Goodie Munching turned on when the iOS 3.1 update through. My question, is it possible that I am now stuck in Prefer Goodie Munching mode? Because I am getting many weird routings lately. However, it is quite possible that the weirdness is due to a big map update for my Houston, Texas area that came through at about the same time the iOS 3.1 update came through. So, should I blow off the weird routes, or do I have more map correcting to do?

According to Waze staff, no. When they removed the option, they also set the routing server to ignore it.

So far I haven't seen a public announcement of this, but got this from krankyd in an email:

We're blocking it in two different ways: The server ignores this parameter (of prefer cookie munching), and you no longer see this option.
So even if you had it on, it will not affect your route any longer.

So as long as he has the story correct, this shouldn't be causing the problems.

Wow...I didn't even realize it was gone.

I have noticed that this week (since I did the last iOS upgrade), two routes that I frequently navigate have taken me on different routes than normal. It's a situation in both cases, where there are two routes that take just about the same amount of time. There hasn't been any colored roads that would indicate any heavy traffic in either case.

Nothing weird like Cookie Munching mode though.

Man, I read the forums pretty regularly and this is the first I heard of it. I did check it before I posted and saw it was gone, so I'm very pleased in the end.

I have noticed that when the map update procecss is going on, expecially the 48 hours that the tiles get updated, Waze will route really weird. I have accepted this as normal, and it lets me know that there will be updated maps soon.

Maybe it was in an email then. Dunno. In any case, at least one other person told me they noticed it earlier this week.
