Why was it trunk roads that was taken as the designation for Major Highway, rather than Primary A-road?

There is no real functional difference between major and minor in waze. We spent a long, long time discussing, debating and thrashing out the current structure to make it rigid and less open to subjectivity therefore I would object to opening it up again.

As a Highlander I would have a very different view of what constitutes a heavily used road compared to the London boys. That subjectivity is what we need to avoid. Having a trunk network gives us that opportunity!

Technically speaking if routing decisions are based on inherent speed data then rather than the classification of road, one has to wonder why there are different classifications? That would remove all subjectivity completely

Darren, can you lock this thread please mate? I am not going into this again. For the interest of the above editors, it was discussed and we settled on a convention, after much "deliberation" (arguing mainly), nearly losing people because of the arguments.
Newer editors, please just follow the wiki, and have faith in those that edit it, that we know what we're doing!
Thank you.
