Royal pain, isn't it?! TG for the bridging function. :geek:

Not using the bridging function. There really aren't any legitimate roads that cross the levee except for a few actual bridges and a few ferry landings. I'm actually leaving a gap to where it doesn't cross or intersect anything unless I absolutely have to.

Here's an example. There's a road that runs parallel to the levee in most cases. There are "ramps" that go up the levee to get on the levee road, but I'm leaving those off. I'm just putting these here so that the pedestrians and bicyclers on the levee who run Waze have something to lock on to without creating a traffic jam on the river road. Also in the event that someone actually drives on the levee (which occasionally happens), they'll be locked onto the levee road, rather than the river road.

In a lot of the basemaps, the dirt road on the levee was set as a Minor Hwy and named the same as the state highway that runs alongside the levee. Lots of URs wanting to know why there was two highways.

Don't drive on the boardwalk, or you will Go Directly to Jail. (Do not pass GO, do not collect $200).

Find some Free Parking and walk.

Example of Waze routing on "non-drivable" segment

Postby jenncard » Thu Jan 26, 2012 4:54 pm

Just popping in quickly to report this incorrect routing that I received: the route is along the highlighted segments, with destination on Dudley Ave. I understand that with the way directionality is set up, there is "no other way" to get EXACTLY there, but still... seems that an "pedestrian boardwalk" should never be used!

I'll fix this up in a few days, but wanted to provide link to untouched area in case there is value in someone passing this along to Waze?

Agreed, and this is what I will do with this area. But, still think that, for segments that are editor updated to any non-drivable type segment, Waze shouldn't use them at all.

From this post viewtopic.php?f=10&t=15233#p133172, I inferred that during the Palo Alto meetup Waze had uncertainty about whether or not this was actually occurring.

If they should not be on the maps, waze really shouldn't have them as an option for road type.

OR ensure that non-drivable types really aren't drivable

And here is the visual to support "Why the non-drivable segments should even be on the map":

Ah, yes. Ocean Front Walk was set to "pedestrian boardwalk" and "2-way" - all turns enabled, thanks ign_* Easy-peasy to just run along and bridge the boardwalk.
