Its such a shame that they don't/won't have anything planned for this, its a massive PR opportunity for them. It also helps local drivers near the Olympics and challenges the pay to use GPS Navigation Apps and systems, especially when CoPilot are planning to bring in special features to their app for it.

I do like xteejyx idea about setting the road speed to zero, but i experience a problem with that when a road was blocked off by police and Waze still tried to navigate me through it, even though it was reported.

Surely there can be something simple and easy to put in place for this which can be removed just as easy. I think London has the most Waze users than any other UK city or town and it seems that this would be a massive kick in the teeth to them, as most of them trust Waze to navigate them around traffic and things like this.

The solution Jim is talking about is not the same as we've seen before over here.
I do believe waze have plans for the Olympics, just none that they're sharing with us just yet!

Joshden as I explained to you twice now, the auto rerouting will not work if
A. You are the first person in a jam or
B. You reported it manually
This is the case for the road closure you ran into last week. You would have to manually disconnect the road in the editor which would take weeks to process.
David, we're indeed not important enough and

Darren, it would be a bloody good idea to tell those that maintain these areas so we know what the hell's going on, but....

All of Newham is done along with the bow, poplar and isle of dogs areas of tower hamlets. Most of this has already been uploaded to the live map. I'm planning to try and get everything from the city to the 406 done by the end of the month.

It would be nice to see if anything special is planned (fingers crossed)

I can work on directions and connectivity north of the A406 if you think it's necessary but I'll leave street names alone.

For most of East London,I think it is. Everything is sorted between the A12 and river, from central London up to the A406. Hackney still needs doing although the main roads should still be routing ok. I'm currently working around Leytonstone / Wanstead, don't know if anybody wants to tackle hackney and near the Olympic venues in Greenwich.
