I think there are some subtle differences to how types are used in routing, plus they look different in the editor.
For example, Waze will prefer to use Primary Roads or better for the majority of the route.
There's also the 'Avoid Highways' option, though I think that doesn't work right now.

Darren, can you lock this thread please mate? I am not going into this again. For the interest of the above editors, it was discussed and we settled on a convention, after much "deliberation" (arguing mainly), nearly losing people because of the arguments.
Newer editors, please just follow the wiki, and have faith in those that edit it, that we know what we're doing!
Thank you.

Change of existing roads' classification

Postby davemci » Fri Mar 23, 2012 1:59 pm

Just to close out the original posting I made the changes around Basingstoke to bring the ring road and other dual carriage way routes into line with the wiki by demoting the non trunk A roads to "minor highway" in the process I also changed Churchill way to primary road to distinguish it from the ring road. This was probably over zealous as it does justify "minor highway" as it is both an A road and a dual carriage way so we have agreed to change this back to Minor Highway.

Hopefully this makes the area compliant with wiki and we can all move forward.
