I have to say I hate this version - it simply does not work. This week I drove both 150 miles south of Portland, ME (i.e. south of Boston), and 150 miles north (north of Bangor). In neither case was I able to connect to a signal, even though I have no problem connecting in Portland. It was kind of weird driving on the Interstate and the app not even recognizing that I was on a road.

So, not only is it a bummer that I didn't get 1000 points for driving 500 miles in one week, but I've rapidly concluded that I cannot rely on Waze. I guess it's time to get a real GPS, if I want something I can rely on.

My uneducated guess: It sounds like your cellular provider does not provide the required data connection in that area.

It would be nice to assume this, but since I have AT&T, and these occurrences were on two different days, I would say not likely. I had cellular coverage all the time, but could not connect to the route servers. I also have a nationwide plan and have not had issues connecting in far more rural areas than these.

I won't exclude the carrier, but don't think it is likely with the info I have now.

Have you tried again since? I recall one day with server outages. There may have been another. I know restarting Waze solved it in one case. And yes, that is the weakest link.

FYI, the following UI irregularities are added to the fix list for the app. These are display font size and layout problem for long routes, as well as looking for a way to display the ETA if the ETA it isn't today.

I suggested looking both at font size, but also, for routes over a certain time, like 10 hours, that perhaps the minutes could be dropped and the display changed to something like 10.5h, or 20.1h.

Hours do not display for routes/times over a certain distance.

The on-map small ETA/time remaining display has font-size irregularities and alignments need adjusting.

The automatic day/night switching is not working correctly for my location. When I switch on at around 8:30 am it starts in day mode and switches immediately to night mode. By about midday it seems to have sorted it out. It also changes to night mode correctly at the other end of the day. It just doesn't seem to know when the sun rises!

I can not see the mood choices or change my car icon. I cannot see a car icon on the map either as I am driving.

main menu->my Waze is where these are. Is the mood menu empty? What about the car icon menu?

Yes, mood menu and car icon menu were totally blank. Husbands phone looked fine. I decided to delete waze and reinstall since a reboot of my phone did not fix the issue. Now I am ticked that I lost all previous mileage data as well as it showing me as a newbie now even though I logged back into the same account. Why doesn't waze save all mileage and account information somewhere else do that it would still be there when I logged back in?

I'm noticing with my iPad (Retina) while navigating in Waze that some popup notifications are showing up partially offscreen. They usually seem to overlap the bottom of the screen (making the close button impossible to see/tap). I usually use the iPad in landscape mode, so I'm not sure whether it happens in portrait mode or not.
