@robspook rsmoser just looked at one of my urs I set for myself, so he is at least looking at urs. I just dropped one on Penn Sq to ask him to stop doing it with a link to the wiki. You might want to drop a few more for him to look at to help let him know he is not following best practices...

@C0C0

I saw that you or someone deleted almost the whole campus... but too much was deleted. The perimeter of the lot was a useful road...

And not all parking lots are trash BTW... I draw a lot of PL roads into businesses that our wazers use, like 7-11's and other gas stations where there are auto update requests because of frequent use. I like these even for my own use, and they do not go against best practices either.

I'm shocked at how much discussion I started here! My most successful thread! LOL

I have often wondered what the point of the Parking Lot road type is anyway, it's not as if people navigate to a specific part of a parking lot. Personally I add a Service Road into a parking lot just to show a junction is there and leave it at that.

When you have a mall like Yorkdale in Toronto https://www.waze.com/editor/?zoom=5&lat=43.72634&lon=-79.45283&layers=BFTFTTTTTTFTFFTFTTTTFT, having internal parking lot roads to help people get out of the lot can be extremely useful.

Also remember that people driving slowly in a parking lot near a real road can end up causing Waze to incorrectly mark that segment of road as having a lower average speed than it should.

I ran across another case of what not to do with a parking lot: https://www.waze.com/editor/?zoom=4&lat ... FFTFTTTTFT

I don't think we have to worry about cfreema's edits going forward. But he did get 15,000 edits done in three weeks.

I've put in about three parking lots in the hope of stopping the system from generating"Missing Road" SRs when people drive through lots to get gasoline or retrieve their dogs at doggy day care facilities. However, they look ugly on the map and I have the sneaking suspicion that they may cause problems somehow, routing people through the parking lots which, after all, are generally private property. What's your recommendations? Should I just mark the SRs as "Not identified," knowing that the SR will pop up again periodically?

I read before that Service roads are not routed through by Waze so if I really have to add a Parking Lot I usually just add service roads to the main paths through the lot rather than every single isle.
Can anyone confirm if Service roads are treated differently by the routing?

They are not, they just have a lower default speed than Street, but are effectively identical to Street once they get historical averages.

Only Parking Lot and the non-drivable types. So far Waze has only confirmed Parking Lot as having Map Problem and Jam suppression properties, in addition Parking Lot landmarks do the same thing.

So . . . a parking lot landmark will eliminate phantom traffic jams on adjacent streets? I mean, if your gps puts you inside a parking lot landmark the client won't lock you onto the nearest road? Is that confirmed, 'cause that would be awesome!

If so, I'll be putting in more of the unsightly landmarks. I would prefer if they were not visible on the client map, but if they prevent the steet lock-on then they may be worth it.
