Hi,
I am using waze since last month and I like it very, very, much but I'd like to understand better the Map update process. I am using Iphone and can anyone explain the update process? Just a few explanation:
I think waze works Like this:
1st - Users drives and update the map on internet.
2nd - Waze team compiles the map once a weak.
3rd - The Client application during start verifies if there is a new version of map.
4th - The waze application prompts to the user update map.
5th - The waze download the map over 3G connection
Is that correct or we have to remove and install the waze app again to have updated maps?
I think that there are many users that would like to better understand this process.
Best regards,

Your thoughts are pretty correct, just 2) the maps are compiled "once in a while", which can range from 3-4 days up to a month, 3) no, I believe upon displaying some map region on the display, 4) some clients offer requesting a map refresh - differs between client versions; you can mostly bet on obtaining a fresh map tiles around a requested route's violet line, 5) or over a WiFi connection.

while trying to get used to Android 3.6.xx.yyy (SG-A2).

You will always have the latest maps available. The client checks for new map tiles and downloads if available.

To clarify, the map is made up of tiles. An individual tile will check for an update and if necessary refresh on two events, 1) If you set a route that passes through that tile and 2) If you purge the map cache in your settings (Advanced > Data Transfer > "Refresh Map of my area").
