Should 'no cars lane' be counted as Exit

Postby leocylau » Fri May 11, 2012 12:08 pm

Hi all, Come across this UR: https://world.waze.com/editor/?zoom=6&l ... TTTFTTTTFT
I believe it is about the number of exit. Recently I set 'no cars lane' is one of the exit of the roundabout as taxi or van can use this 'no cars lane'. I'd say 'bus only' lane should not be counted but for 'no cars lane' should be counted. Any opinion? Should we put it in the wiki too if you agree it should be counted or not?

To be honest I don't think you can win with this one. Some people will expect it to be counted and others not. I have a similar roundabout where I get a repeat UR which I think is down to the fact I count a small (all-access) exit and the user is not.

I would prefer it be counted. It probably doesnt matter much if you know the area, but if you have never used the roundabout before your attention is probably going to be on counting / matching big exits in general, not taking into account whether an exit is suitable for your type of transport or not.

It's a pity Waze does not have a taxi mode.

Hi,

Given you are using guidance AND the roundabout manages to work correctly, then it is a given that when you are told to take the 3rd exit you will count the exits irrespective of whether they are "Bus only", "Taxi only" or whatever. This because likely you'll not know the area.
If the editor has decided that, because cars or "regular users" can't use the exit, it should not be shown then those "regular users" will report the missing exit. Rightly so. It is still an exit whether cars can use it or not.

So all exits to a roundabout should be on the map.

Exit doesn't mean exit onto the roundabout, its an exit OFF. I don't count ones I can't turn into but its driver preference. In either case they can just glance at the screen anyway.

Leo is there any need to have 2 roads connected here? The one marked no car's does not seem to serve any purpose and there is no physical barrier here

No, we don't need 2 roads there. That was created by UK base map input or by others long time ago and I just too lazy to delete it :-p

I have connected the exit road to roundabout so it can be counted as exit but the other end of this road has been disconnected to prevent waze to navigate through there. The problem is taxi and van can use this exit but will not be instructed to use this road. As you said, it is pity Waze does not have a taxi mode (or van mode).

Anyway, I will delete this UR and see it will come up again.

Hi thelight1, it seems you love to put direction on the road  . Is it necessary? I can see the reason it will help better traffic report with direction but should you put the (E) and (W) for the whole road rather than just one segment of Durant road? Or just no direction at all as this is only a short road?

I agree Leo, I don't think it's necessary to have any direction at all on short sections of road such as this (sorry!)
