That old chestnut !

Postby damionh » Thu May 31, 2012 7:37 am

I'm finding , presumably like a lot of people that the points on my android app are not being updated, my dashboard sees ok but I am still stuck on the same points I was 3 weeks ago. Does anyone know how to help ? It is turning a great app into a bad one by restricting a main feature ( ie) the collection of points.

Don't know of any problems with this ... my scoreboard on my Android client version of Waze is pretty close to the score on my Dashboard here on the website. (Actually, the client is currently reporting 20 points more than the dash ... 821,317 instead of 821,297 ... no big deal. ;)) Really, though, the point system is merely a rather minor fun side-detail of Waze, rather than being "a main feature". The main feature of Waze is traffic-sensitive commuter navigation, and the collection of points has nothing to do with whether Waze is good at that or not. :)

On the international server something seems to be stuck indeed.
My dashboard says:
Rank, last updated: 5.31.2012, 2:34
193795 points

while MapEditor proclaims:
Hey gordonski!
190584 pts.

and my Scoreboard also reads:
My points: 190584
My Rank: 39

Looking at the top weekly wazers list in my state I find that I'm not in there. #50 scored 1281 points, I remember picking up 3 750-points-candies two days ago... I didn't really notice until now.

btw: what time does the "last updated" date use? Does the dashboard use my browser's locale settings, is it UTC, or PST, or... ?

There is a know problem with points - http://status.waze.com/

Dashboard appears to be updating but Live Map, client and score boards are not.

I am not so sure that I would call the collection of points a main feature of Waze, and that its failure to do so turns it from a good app into a bad one.

I never usually jump on the "this feature is not important" bandwagon, but this particular one just clogs up the status.waze.com and forums so much it's unreal.

Expecially when they are on the wrong server. Waze's logon system is fricking weird. Not only do you have to log on, but then you have to constantly make sure you select your country. It should be a database entry, not a dropdown feature. Fricking put in the Country in the personal details and that will solve half of people's points issues right there. Or at least install a IP check script that will automagicly redirect to the right server.
