Minor quibble, there should often be capitalisation after a "-" in a street name. I don't think there ever is at the moment. But you need to be careful of words like "the" or "y" (Welsh) which should not be capitalised.

An example https://world.waze.com/editor/?zoom=7&lat=52.40364&lon=-4.06653&layers=BFTFTTTTTTFTTTTTTTTTFT&segments=178779659.
The street should be "A4120 - Heol-y-Bont" (as on WME) and not "A4120 - Heol-y-bont" as suggested by the script.

I appreciate that it will never be 100% right. "y" is Welsh for "the", but seems to come up much more often in street names than it's English equivalent.

If it's too much trouble to code for exceptions, I reckon it would be better to always capitalise after a "-" than never to do so.

It was working for me yesterday, and I was wondering what all the fuss was about.

But this morning, I can't see it at all.

Running Firefox on an Apple, with (or rather without) WME to OS link v 1.5.3

OK, forget that, I understand what's happened. I was still using the old WME editor.

I've just cleared out the Firefox cache, and now loaded the new WME editor for the first time. Everything working, I think, although the look of the new editor will take a while to get used to.

I think the "namecheck" feature highlighting discrepancies between OS name and WME name is really useful. But I think it could be even better :)

- could it please stop highlighting roads where the OS don't know a name, but WME has one filled in?
There are quite a few little roads in towns, especially private roads, with blank names on the OS map, and there is no point in highlighting them when a local has supplied the name.

- could it please start highlighting roads (perhaps in a different colour) where the OS do have a name but WME doesn't?
This would enable editors to easily distinguish the two classes of roads with no name on WME; those which genuinely have no name, and those for which a name exists but nobody has put it on the WME map.

The script seems to be convinced that this little village in Kent
https://world.waze.com/editor/?zoom=5&lon=0.60546&lat=51.24529
is the only "Leeds" in the country,

and denies the county suffix is required!

Two little extra's:

1. Add an include for "https://descartesw.waze.com/beta/*"
2. Add a Cartouche Link at it is still a useful tool for fixing roundabouts:
Code: Select all
var cartouche_url = 'http://world.waze.com/cartouche_old/?zoom='+zoom+'&lon='+lon+'&lat='+lat;

:-)

So that's where the beta is!
