My boss told me about Waze and thought that I'd enjoy it because it's "gadgety", he was right! I'm really happy with Waze and I like the open format and community support when compared to Google maps. I have a few questions though...
* How do you find new wazers? My wife joined up and I wanted to see where she was; (e.g., Google Latitude). Can you?
* What's the point of groups? My wife joined my group and I wanted to ping her specifically but I couldn't find her username.
My wife and use Waze because she just switched from Android to iPhone and was looking for turn-by-turn application and she couldn't use Google Maps anymore.
This is a great and fun app!

Cool! I figured it was just a growing pains deal. WAZE so far is wonderful as it is now so it's only going to get better. Thanks!

I am also new - but it seems one way to keep track of a friend is to cross-post to a social media site - like facebook or twitter (probably best). There's integration within the app, but I haven't tried it yet.

Wazers shown on map are a subset, and are delayed in displaying for privacy and performance reasons.
Joining a group just allows people of the same group to share reports/chit chats with each other, and if you set the setting appropriately to be notified when a new report/chit is sent to the group.
At this time there is no way to track a particular user on purpose, but it has been suggested to waze before. At this time, unfortunately like a couple times in the past, they are dealing with the growing pains of a new version, and therefore new users. So new features are low priority at this point.
