There needs to be an option to LOCK the MAP NORTH as with most mas navigators. Every time you glance at the map it is sideways, upside down or other. As a navigation aid it is almost useless. Any action on the screen causes the map to rotate somewhere. Sure glad they do not use this method for air or ship traffic.

I find it much easier to see my progress at a glance (especially if I am 'off course' when the map doesn't rotate. It's much easier to orient myself on the map if I'm not having to mentally roate it based on what direction the device thinks I'm moving at the moment.
Please add an option for the 2D map to have north always be up (at which point it's probably a good idea to replace the car with an arrow to indicate what direction you are moving)

I tried this and found it didn't work very well.
The problem is that any touch to the screen unlocks the map and it rotates again.
I have a HTC one X and it has a super sensitive screen, it records a lot of things as 'touches', including many that don't end up triggering movement.
holding it in my hand, the ball of my thumb frequently counts as a 'touch' interfering with whatever I'm trying to do.
I set the map for 'north up' and set it in the metal dash of my truck, the first time I hit a jolt , the movement of the phone around the steel and wires was enough to unlock the map.
This really needs to be a more permanent setting (like the 2D/3D setting)

Also, have a way to centre the car where you want it
I haven't had this problem, the car is always the middle of the screen.
although, I always have it in 2D mode, so it may just be that I never have it out of position in the first place.

Seconded. This needs to be a map option to lock north always up. Tapping the compass is annoying as it seems to resets back if you happen to do anything else.
I know we're in the minority, but 3D sucks, and I want the map to look like a map so that it builds a map in my mind as well when I travel....otherwise your routes are just rat runs in your mind, and not oriented to anything.
Also, have a way to centre the car where you want it - another problem in 2D mode is that the car icon tends to be just stuck where the 3D one was, which is not a great spot for 2D.
thanks.

Tap the compass to lock north towards the top of the screen.
