Need to disable the low battery warnings, please

Postby brasscupcakes » Sun Jul 22, 2012 5:14 am

Hi, everyone -- I'm new to Waze and I love it but I am getting nonstop low battery warnings even when I've got 30% power left. How do I turn them off, please? Warnings at 30%? With the number of applications I use on my phone, the quality of the battery it came with and the frequency with which I use it to tether, 30% left is lots of juice. Plus, I always charge my phone when I'm driving.
Most users consider these warnings a feature, no doubt, but in my particular case, the inability to turn them off is dangerous. I am far from a brilliant driver -- let's just say that everybody is better off when I keep both hands on the wheel.
If there isn't even an option to say at which point I get warned (say, below 5%?) and minimize these interruptions, I won't be able to use Waze at all, which makes me sad, because I love it.
But perhaps there's some kind of workaround/hack for this issue? I have a rooted ZTE Warp and I am running Ice Cream Sandwich.
Many thanks for any help you can provide!

The default is to no. So if you don't press anything, Waze will still be running when the time is up. I'm not sure of the exact time of the countdown but its probably not longer than 15 seconds. So you can just concentrate on driving and Waze will still be on even if you have less than 30% battery without touching anything. Hope that helps:)

Charge your phone properly and you won't get these warnings. If it's losing charge in the car, get a higher rate charger.

if you are under android, you can change it in preferences file (in sd card's waze folder)
you can set the level if charge for both warning message

I agree that it is annoying to have that screen pop up any time, but it's especially worse when the battery is actually being charged at the time. It shouldn't be too hard for Waze to detect that the phone is being charged and refrain from giving the low battery warning in such a case (or at least automatically shift to a lower threshold like 5% or 10% if it's charging).

I mentioned this at the meet-up in Palo Alto. The response was that, even on a charger, it is possible that Waze is still a net drain on the battery.

Personally, I'd still like to see a setting that disables battery warnings when the device is on a charger.
