I had it set to Full, and then changed it to Minimal, and although it's not a "fix," it's a workaround -- there was no audio cut out.
I see Google Play has Waze v184.108.40.206 as of today (8/8/12), so maybe that includes a fix. If not, I guess we'll need to use Minimal guidance for the time being.
