Speaking of alerts, it would be nice to vote down on a live police trap that isn't there anymore.

Um you can. When you get the voice alert and the pop up, you have the option of "Not There" that you can click on to vote it down.

Not when it is on the other side of the road.

Of course, you only get that prompt when you are driving on the same road in the same direction as the alert was originally posted.

/sigh

I'll explain again. Unless I'm playing something on my phone, through my car's bluetooth, I hear no notifications. I've run Waze on my phone in another vehicle, I do not hear any notifications. Now, in addition to that, I would like to have the option to vote down an alert on the other side of the road if it doesn't exist anymore.

How is this hard to understand?

There's two things then: 1) you haven't got the settings correct to play audio either to the phone speaker/headset or via bluetooth. Those are found in the Sound settings. 2) it is possible Waze may change to allow "clearing" of a police or other kinds of alerts on a road when you're traveling the other direction. I bet there's a vote on the client uservoice for that already.

Related: there is definitely a uservoice vote already going for alerts which apply to both driving directions at the same time such as police or accident which blocks/affects both directions of travel.

Today you cannot do this, but the desire is out there to be able to do what you're looking for. If/when Waze decides they are inclined and have development time available, it will happen.

So where are the sound settings?

When I hit Menu, I have:

Settings
Switch Off

I've looked through all of Settings and have found no sound options.

It was suggested above that it be based upon faster or slower roads, but if I'm on a highway in a traffic jam traveling at 10mph I probably don't need a police alert at 2000 feet.

What RD is that?

Police alert distance

Postby Solidjake » Thu Jun 14, 2012 9:02 am

Good morning everyone.

One problem that I've noticed along with other members of my forum is that the police alert of 500 feet is way too short. Normally a alert of 2000 feet is good because if the officer is using a lidar gun they can obtain your speed from 2000 feet or less. Thank you.

Longer distance you mean ;)

I really hope the developers are reading this so they can update it right away. Traveling at 70+ on a highway with a 500foot range is very bad.
