Entrance fees = toll roads?

Postby gettingthere » Mon Jul 23, 2012 5:52 am

Ok, so maybe there are a couple of exceptions. But this should not be the standard for parks. (of any type)

The entrance to Disney World is not a toll road!

Why not just mark the Parks as private roads instead? That is more accurate and should prevent routing through them unless it's your origin, destination or the only feasible way.

Entrance fees = toll roads?

I was at Yellowstone a few weeks ago. I can't imagine anyone will be cutting through that Park and paying the entrance fee if they are not actually visiting the park. It's way, way out of the way to cut through the park to go anywhere but the park. I would never think of that as a toll road and expect Waze to consider it as a toll road for routing.

Toll Road is a standardized term. We are interpreting this as 'fee road' in this thread. A fee road is not a toll road.

If we are going to mark fee roads we need to petition to Waze to change the wording in the client and map editor.

Next it's going to morph to amusement park entrances. Can we just cut it at toll roads as intended?

A congestion zone seems to be considered a toll. Park Entrance fee, not so much.

But the difference is that that tolls are solely for the privilege of driving on the road, bridge, area. Park fees are primarily to visit the park. Entertainment.

So if I drive through a mapped McDonald's drive through and have to buy something to continue through - is that a toll road also?

Another definition:

I have an idea - call the national park and ask them if the fee that you pay to enter the park would be considered a toll.

With the McDonalds comment I am trying to make a point. Toll roads should be limited to toll roads, nothing else.

Well the iOS TomTom Application did not alert me of taking a route with toll roads when I visited Yosemite a few weeks ago...

But you don't need my approval. Do as you wish.
