For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure I've seen different length of segments.

What causes these?

Took a quick look around the border, but did not find any segments there...

If on the ROTW scoreboard from Mexico it would have to be at least several miles south of the USA border since drives close to the border generally appear on the USA / Canada infrastructure since the borders in the app are not correctly defined.

He could be using the developer GPS options on Android. It's definitely a possibility at least.

Maybe the length has something to do with airspeed.

I think something else might actually be happening. MM did finally reply to me today that he had no idea how those got there, but he thought something in his app on the phone was doing it on its own. He said his account was suspended and he was not happy.

Then when I looked at this location just now I found yet another short segment in the desert. When I went to see if it was MM, imagine my surprise when instead it showed up as ME.

It is listed as created by me and last edited by me on Friday. I KNOW I did not take my phone down there to pave anytime recently. I could have tried to edit that area on Friday to remove Portola Valley. But there is no way I ever created that segment.

So based on what Jonypony wrote earlier in this thread, seems likely to be some issue with the new tiles processing system. Wonderful :(

In looking at Kent's segment, and this one not far away, MM's has a 1969 date on it, and Kent's has last saturday's date and show updated by Kent, rather than Admin. Also note, this one has a length of almost 10,000 meters.

I wonder if Kent's was just an accidental click of the mouse while editing nearby.

To accidentally click the road, I would have to pull the "Plus" down and select road (or press "I") and then click, move, and click. All while not noticing I was drawing a road? Seems less likely, but what if while the system was lagging I was just tying to move the map? I actually don't recall being down in that area Friday, bit it is possible and just forgot. Friday was pretty bad and I think I gave up with very little editing.
