NZ Petrol Stations

Postby noodlesnz » Mon Aug 06, 2012 9:17 pm

Hi guys,

I thought we could take an organized approach to entering NZ petrol stations. I've created a spreadsheet of known petrol stations in NZ (from Zenbu). This has lat/long, addresses, phone numbers etc. It should be pretty easy to use this to fill in the details on Waze.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... zFjLVlNQkE

If you're keen to help out let me know and I'll add your email to the spreadsheet so you can mark off the ones you've done (I've marked some already in green). Email me at nick (at) noodles (dot) net.nz

Some of these (particularly Caltex) are a little out of date.

It's worthwhile checking either street view or the white pages to confirm.

Yea, I try to use Google maps street view to make sure they still exist. If you want to either mark the bad ones in red or delete them all together.

I've split the sheet into North and South Island, so should make the task seem a little less overwhelming.

I've marked them green same as the completed ones. I figure it's more of a "this has been checked and completed".

Also, should say thanks noodles. This does make the process much less of a 'needle in haystack' thing. :)

NZ Petrol Stations

Just saw your post ad havent had a chance to look at the spreadsheet yet. I've been using the gas company websites which all ave ms with full address details inc phone numbers. Tat combined with street view to confirm where necessary has been easy to use ad avoids having to create and maintain another source of data. I used the Caltex site to add all their stations in auckland - before the update which allowed noting address etc.

Ok, all the North Island Z stations are done, I don't have permissions for the South Island.

Btw, a tip, use the GPS coords from the spreadsheet, makes it easy to pin point the stations.

I want to know how you do this?

somebody has entered (computer generated) shell stations across NZ. The problem is they are no longer called "shell" and most are in the wrong spot, some are close.

and

based on some reading it appears you might be able to submit spreadsheet data to waze and they auto generate the data on the maps?

I can't find anywhere that mentions uploading a list of stations. If you could point me in the right direction Waze might be able to use the data that I already have in the spreadsheet.

ispyisail: Would you be able to mark off the stations that you've done on the spreadsheet? Email me and I'll give you permissions on the sheet.
