So ASR (speech recognition) IS available in UK

I don't get it. I thought that ASR was only available in the US, something to do with English pronunciation. And I just read that you can enable ASR by typing ##@asr into the navigate to menu. I tried it. It worked. It speaks English. I talk English.

So why isn't this enabled by default and why do we need to enter a code into waze to get it to work? All very odd. This is a really good feature to have - none of the other iOS satnavs do it.

Yeah I've enabled it on my uk android too. Though I hacked the preferences file to do it, dind't know you oculd type that in. It seemed to recognise my voice fine. Although it had difficulty when I was driving, probably due to background noise...

At present unfortunately it works fine only where English language is setted

I can confirm, that ASR/TTS is working outside US/UK too, with English and maybe German languages. (I can't speak German well, so I can\t test it. but after activating ASR I have options to select English or German in "navigation guidance" settings menu. comparing to having TTS enabled without ASR when there was option to choose between English and Spanish)

I cant get ASR to work tho. I live in europe, I have the ##@ASR key entered and it says ASR on. I have been inside settings to activate it, but still I get told "TTS/ASR is not available!"

You may try to switch TTS with ##@tts.

I'm not drunk, just using tapatalk.

Heard that one guy who had same problem fixed it by using different rom. For me TTS and ASR is working fine in English lang.

You may also try to uninstall waze completely + delete waze folder and reinstall again

I'm not drunk, just using tapatalk.

Yea and I am not going to flash a different rom just because waze wont support a single feature. I am running stock samsung rom and thus I see little reason to use a custom one as noone seems to offer me anything useful.
