I've had a problem in the past when I was renaming Frodsham. I also have problems renaming Llay, Llangollen and Prenton. Basically, I try to rename any of these places, it appears to save correctly but then when I reselect the segment I thought I'd changed, the old place name is still there. :?

The only way I've found to change it is to inform support and get them to change it.

I hadn't had an issue so far until I noticed that when I try and change "Altrincham (Cheshire)" to just plain "Altrincham" for some reason it changes it after saving to "Hale (Cheshire)". I hadn't noticed it do this until I had done the entire town! I don't think it has anything to do with the tools as the same happens when using WME and doing a single road.

I tried editing the city name of Lee Ave in WME and the Beta - can't get it to change.

Odd.

I have added both Dorking and Guildford to the list for renaming.

Can I also suggest adding Woking, Reigate and Redhill to the list too? They're all probably big enough to warrant the change.

I'm a bit disappointed though. I spent bloody ages adding the county suffix to big chunks of Surrey.

Just so I'm completely clear: Going forward is it now UK policy to only use the county suffix where there is a duplicate name elsewhere in the country? Or is there a size criterion we're applying?
AM for Guildford, Dorking, Reigate, Woking and most of Surrey and East Hampshire.

I think there's a bit of size criterion as well. Where there are duplicates, the largest does not need the country suffix.

For example, the town of Preston in Lancashire should not have a suffix, but the various villages of Preston scattered around the country would need suffices.

(That is, villages which are simply "Preston" need a suffix, Preston Candover for example is unique and does not need one).

What advice re the following: Harleston (Norfolk) - should this be renamed to just Harleston? On checking there are:

Harleston SX7945 Devon Devon S Hams

Harleston TM0160 Suffolk Sufflk M Sufflk

Harleston TM2483 Norfolk Norflk S Norflk

How do you tell which is the biggest?

Would be nice to tidy up as on the map we have Harleston, Harleston (Norfolk) and Harleston (Nofolk) - thoughts?

PS: As an aside is there a quick way to identify which roads have the wrong entries (eg Harleston (Nofolk) - without the 'r', without having to click on each road?

W.
