Copy the message, then cancel

Swap to whatsapp and paste the message

That's how I do it too. I hope they change that one day - brought it up many times in the beta threads. There are many apps that use a handle for sharing content that includes whatsapp, for instance the YouTube app, so why can't Waze use the hook?

Whatsapp and other 3rd party app integration will be added to one of our next releases.
Meanwhile you can use "Waze to Whatsapp" - a nice (and free) little app that allows you to use Whatsapp while using Waze.
