Renton, WA: 5 Erroneous Red Light Cameras

There are 3 intersections in this permalink with a total of 5 red light camera indicators. None of the intersections actually have red light cameras. There are traffic flow monitoring cameras at each of them, but none of them are equipped to photograph scofflaws and mail them traffic violation tickets.

I've been hitting "not there" every time I drive by the area with Waze running, but I see that a level 5 editor approved at least a couple of them, so it may not be that easy to get rid of them.

Next time they put RLcameras there, try sending them a PM explaining why they are NOT cameras that issue tickets.

The fact is that many traffic signals are now using cameras to control the lights just as loops of wire under the pavement are still used in some places, allowing 'on demand' changes in the timing of the lights. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Signal_timing
